DDJ 10. 明白四达，能无知乎

第十章 [原文]  载营魄抱一①，能无离乎？专气致柔②，能如婴儿乎③？涤除玄鉴④，能无疵乎？爱民治国，能无为乎⑤？天门开阖⑥，能为雌乎⑦？明白四达，能无知乎⑧？生之畜之⑨，生而不有，为而不恃，长而不宰，是谓玄德⑩。

[译文]精神和形体合一，能不分离吗？聚结精气以致柔和温顺，能像婴儿的无欲状态吗？清除杂念而深入观察心灵，能没有瑕疵吗？爱民治国能遵行自然无为的规律吗？感官与外界的对立变化相接触，能宁静吧？明白四达，能不用心机吗？让万事万物生长繁殖，产生万物、养育万物而不占为己有，作万物之长而不主宰他们，这就叫做“玄德”。

老子问了前几个问题，我都默默不动。 最后“能无知乎”？   我一听乐了，赶快举手     再不举手更待何时？  于是老子就不继续问了。后来我听说老子问的是传说的“rhetorical question".   震精。

道德经很多篇都可以做prayers，但是这一段尤其优美的祈祷。 载营魄抱一①，能无离乎？"may the outward and the inward be at one.”  生之畜之，生而不有，为而不恃，长而不宰。

The U.S.  Constitution Article I Legislative, Section3.3: No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

The U.S.  Constitution Article I Legislative, Section3.4: The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Senator要求只比Congressman要多几年经验。 但是Vice President becomes a part of Senate and Executive Branch, as a tie breaker in the senate.   Question for kids, why does the senate require tiebreaker?

Question for adults,  Would all legislative votes likely converge to 50/50?
